Life/Art
Robert Vorstman (Amsterdam, 1975) is a traditional yet modern figurative artist who finds most of his inspiration from subjects in their most common or natural environments. Mostly painting landscapes and scenes taken from nature, Robert also searches for the little sparks found in every day life - uncovering meaningful moments that often come from the most simple of things. His talent is stemmed from his delicate yet precise ability to capture everything that he sees with an impressionistic touch while still limiting himself to the essence of the subject.
Robert shows everyday scenes with modesty and truthfulness and knows exactly how to show his excitement for the subject to the spectator effortlessly. His paintings come to life with the colours, lighting and depth he focuses on; from the paints on his pallets to the brush strokes on awaiting canvases; his works are not overly complicated, often using limited resources. He is often travelling by bike in search of what will next spark his interest. He makes his sketches outside, on the spot of the places that speak to him, and then continues developing his paintings in his home-atelier while still managing to make time to be a supportive and loving husband to his wife Saskia and loving and providing father to his three children.
